I just got a 10-22 EF-s and need to get a UV filter for it. I know the mulitcoated B+W or Hoya are good, but do I need a slim filter or will a regular width do?

Also, I'm looking at getting a set of GND filters (probably start with a 2-stop soft, 2-stop hard, and a 3-stop ND). I understand that the Cokin filters aren't great, but what about the holders? Can I use P-size filters with the 10-22, or do I need to go with the Z-Pro, or 4"x4" size? Could I get by with the P size using the wide angle adapter? Does anyone know what focal length the P filters start vignetting at on a crop body?

I don't expect to use them THAT much, so the price factors into it a little. Going with Lee or similar, I'm going to have a tough time justifying $500 for 3 filters that I'll use a few times a year. Keeping it under $250 would make me (and the missus) happier.

I guess an other alternative would be to go with the P size, and just accept that I can't use them on the 10-22 -- If I want to use the grads, It'll be on the 17-85 (or 17-55 when I get that).

Thanks.

I'd go with the 4" holders; if you wanted to try the P series, you'd need to make sure to get the WA holder. ISTR HiTech has a package that may meet your price, or at least approach it.
