Yup its time to pony up and buy some Pocket Wizards.. ive tried all the cheap ebay triggers and im starting to get ALOT more work and i have to make EVERY shot count... SOO im going to bite the bullet and buy pocket wizards. NOW i would need 5 of them to work with my gear. I have found two places so far

first is on ebay:

4 pocket wizards new for $660 ( and ill scrounge up one more )
http://cgi.ebay.com …ZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem (external link)

BUT this is from eBay so i dont know if this is an authorized retailer and does it matter if i buy them from an auth retailer do these things have any warranty on them?

The second is:

www.mpex.com (external link)

They sell them for $178.95

If anyone knows of a cheaper place to get them BRAND NEW let me know before i dump a butt load of cash on these things..

Thanks :)

JTP

the thing about buying from ebay is that you won't get to extend your warranty from 1 yr to 3yrs. I'm not sure if that seller is an authorized seller, but the only thing to gain from buying from authorized sellers is the extension of the warranty.

What kind of lights are you using? I use 4 WL in an arena, I used 1 PW for each head, then a friend of mine told me to hard wire them together or another name is ZIP Line, now I use 2 PW to fire all four lights one to receive and one as transmitter. All you need is lamp cord and AD aTaps (Ace Hardware). I see you are in Orlando Sky Craft for lamp cord 1/8 " mono plugs for the PW, I ran 500 feet of line in the arena still comes out cheaper then 5 PW's

Nikon D4 and 60 2.8D Micro, 24-70 2.8G, 70-200 2.8G VRII, 200-400 VRII, SB800, SB600, Pocket Wizards, 4x WL-1600, Quantum Turbo 2x2, Sekonic 358 meter, TT AS, Takeoff, Belt System

I agree, and that is how i set up strobes in an arena. But those are there and not moved..well ever. if you are always setting up and moving lighting setups (like you would be in a studio environment) the zip lines an ad a taps would defeat the purpose of the pocket wizards...freedom from dealing with cords when moving lights.

Just as a note, you cant just go get the ad a taps wherever...i wish though...they are illegal in the state of texas, i have to order them from out in cali.
