DOF is too shallow....probably would have been better if both of the phones were in focus...

The first thing you should always do when you get a lens is read the manual for the "minimum" focusing distance. ;)

I think the very shallow dof is what makes this composition interesting, I find this does have a pleasant look.

You guys are completely missing the fact that the image is not even in focus. See my previous post. There is no DOF. ;)

The image is composed of a bracketed series of images (3 images, 1 stop a part). the focal point was the talk button and was shot at f/1.4 @ 50mm, which creates a very thin area that is in focus.

Looks like you were too close. The minimum focusing distance of the lens is about 18 inches. Either that, or your RAW sharpening is set to zero. If you think you were over 18" and on a tripod [properly supported], that lens should be much sharper. ;)

It was hand held, shot in large jpeg. No color or contrast adjustments, just resized and aligned, then cropped. I was about 2-3 feet from the table sitting on the bed.
