What is the difference or advantage of using archive quality DVDs or DMDs? The "M" in DMD stands for "Mastering".
Have seen a 10-pack of Kodak professional archive (guaranteed for 100 years) DVDs costing 19.99 eur, whereas the same - i.e. also "Kodak professional archive (guaranteed for 100 years)" - of DMDs costing 29.99 eur for a 10-pack. Both have the same storage capacity (4.7Gb or 120 mins).
I'm going about committing my original raw files to disc (besides external hard drive storage, that is) and not sure what the difference would be if I was to use one over the other (other than cost saving/extra of a third - they're not cheap!). Both are suited to long term archival storage of 'digital media' meaning pictures, music and video. Packaging and wording is almost identical on both packs too suggesting their uses are pretty much similar/the same.
