I just bought a wireless remote from Ebay for about $25. There are several "brands". Most are made in China and sold from Hong Kong. The one I got was branded "Aputure". You'll see lots of mention on POTN about Phottix. My guess is that they are all quite similar.

Mine works like a charm. It says it will work from up to 30 meters, but I've only tried it from about 30 ft. so far. I'm looking forward to trying this out with our bird feeder soon: sit inside with camera on tripod near the feeder and snap when birds are there.

That is one of the main reasons I would like a wireless remote. Would like to set up the camera outside and focused on the feeder then be inside clicking away. I have (and use a lot) the Canon wired remote and like it very much.

Budget, most likley 50 bucks max if possible..

Funny... last weekend I saw Remote shutter trigger for Digital Cameras @ Instructables.com (external link) and thought what the heck, give it a try. It works very well (XTi) and only cost me ~$5 to use an inexpensive hands-free phone headset. Click once to focus, click again to snap a shot... or just hold the button down for continuous shots. I just had to snip the microphone and speaker to make it work for me. fwiw...

I'll probably get a wireless version at some point, but this was a fun experiment.:)

Looks like good reviews from the cheapy remotes.. which is good to hear :)

Would rather spend 7 bucks than 49 bucks lol..

Plus im still a amature, so no need to spend big bucks just yet :P

Got my remote today :) YAY so happy!!

will test it out later on in the day.

Did you purchase one yet? I am looking for one to go with my XSi. If you did, I'd love to hear about it and the seller if you recommend the product. There are quite a few of them available on ebay, so any help is appreciated.

Yup trustworthy seller (whoever it was on ebay lol)

Will test it out soon for you!

sure pass it on...lol

I've been looking too.

the ones I've seen also have the bulb feature if you are interested.
set your camera to the bulb feature and your shutter will stay open as long as you hold the button down....
