Hi everyone,
I was really excited to do this bridal shoot! She was so willing to let me take her anywhere and everywhere. I just want your oppinions on the shots. Technical, compositional, posing, what ever you would have done differently, or maybe just if you like them.

The first one seems too dark to me, but I like what you've done with the second one.

Then 3 & 4 came up...

Four is def. too dark, and I'm not too sure about 3 either.

I like #1.

On a side note, where is that? It looks vaguely familiar to me.

In general, I commend you for your creative location and your creative posing, however, I think you need to be careful about how those things may take over the image, rather than the subject (a bride) at hand and the meaning it carries for a lot of people.

1) This shot appears dark, even though it appears you made use of a flash. For me, there isn't enough seperation between subject and background, and I find the edge treatment to be a distraction.

2) This shot looks blown out. I think maybe you could do with less light and more contrast here. I think the tone of the background being so pale is a detriment to the image.

3) It appears as though her dress is more in focus than her face, and having the sun in the immediately in the background is a distraction, and most likely made this a very diffuclt shot to take.

4) This one is too dark for my liking and appears out of focus. And again, the border treatment is a distraction for me.

5) For a bridal shot, this pose feels too casual. The image appears out of focus.

6) The crop feels too tight. Would the image work better if her left eye were also in focus? This shot is by far my favorite of the group.

In case you can't tell, I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to bridal / wedding photos, though I commend the creativity involved in these shots. Work on your execution, and you might be on to something here.

Well I asked for critique, but maybe I shouldn't have, now I'm a little depressed. I was trying to be artsy/edgy and branch out a little in my posing and style. There are a coulple that are out of focus (the one with the sun I just thought I'd try it, but I don't know what I did wrong) (The antiqued one I added noise to give it and older feel) The rest are pretty sharp for me. (Maybe compresion did something to them)
I'd do just about anything for a side note just about now, so these were done in Kanab, Utah. Southern Utah just like yourself!

Great CC from Chrome. I look forward to seeing more posts from you.

I agree with most of the comments. The images do look good. Remember many of the comments were in relation to you PP. Other elements can be improved with PP especially if you shot in RAW.

I am loving 4. Its really nicely done. Its very dark, but thats easy to fix!
Your JPEGs are very compressed. I think thats why they look a little fuzzy. Try overwriting your original images with higher quality images.

I thought I recognized the setting.

I LOVE #4 (the antiqued one) I think it's a great shot, and well done, processing and everything. It's amazing that you got her to sit in that old window in her wedding dress. :D It was worth it.

Don't be depressed. I went back and looked at some of your earlier posts, and you have come a long way since you first started posting here.

Keep on keepin on.

no need to be depressed. if you got no critiques you will never grow.

also i see youve used scriptina for your logo/font. id be careful of selling images with "free fonts" on them. use em sparingly.

I do like #4 as well. I think #2 would be nice without the range as I love the old wood background on it. Don't get depressed. These are just our opinion's. Use the suggestions to grow on your next shoot. Look forward to seeing it!

Explain this, what is wrong with using free font's. Maybe something I need to know. ;)

No, No I really am appreciative of the feedback, I just have so far to go. That's all. I'm getting better and I'm excited about that. Have to start somewhere and all.

Try not to lose sight of the fact that my remarks are based on my opinion and what limited experience I have, so don't take everything I say absolutely to heart. I'd be curious to see one of your non-compressed images just to see if the focus issue really is a compression problem, as it often is.

Don't interpret my remarks to be mean-spirited and just know that when I have an opinion, typically its a very firm one. The topic of weddings and brides is something I generally have a strong reaction to (raised in religion and all) and I only intended my remarks to be constructive.

I think you're off to a fantastic start towards what you're going for here. Keep tuning and tweaking and I think you'll end up getting some fantastic results.
