S5IS video

Being a newcomer to digital video, I was wondering what would be the best/least-expensive way to transfer my S5IS videos to DVD. Should I use a program like Roxio's Easy Media Creator, or would I get better results using a DVD recorder? Although I don't have a DVD recorder, I've been considering buying one so I can transfer my sizeable VHS collection to DVD. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I used a DVD recorder to transfer old VHS personal tapes to DVD but for S5 videos I would just use what came with your computer - Nero, Roxio, etc.

The other day I transferred my first set of videos to DVD using Roxio Easy Media Creator. It turned out well, although the process took a couple of hours to fill up one 4.7 GB DVD. I don't know if there's a quicker way. I can't remember exactly what I did since I didn't follow any instructions. I just followed what seemed to be logical steps and the disc turned out okay.

I've postponed the purchase of a DVD recorder until I finally decide to start digitizing my VHS collection.
