When I connect my FS100 to the A/C adapter and the USB cable to my PC, the LCD screen on the camera says:

"While the camcorder is connected to a PC, do not disconnect the USB cable or power source. Cannot turn off power or change modes."

Ok...

How exactly do I safely disconnect the camera?

a. I want to turn the camera off first, but by design it won't let me.

b. I want to disconnect the USB from the PC or the A/C cable from the wall, but it's telling me not to as long as the camera is turned on?

What, shut down the PC?

Thanks in advance to whomever can solve this puzzle...

There is a Icon in the right hand side of the task bar that must be clicked on first. Then you will see all devices attached to the computer's USB ports, click on the one the camera is plugged into, it will then say safe to remove hardware.
Or do as I do, get a high speed card reader and download from the card, it's much faster.

PERFECT !!

Thanks. I figured I was missing something simple.

Thanks for the card reader idea. I'll definitely be picking one of those up and use it instead.

Just dawn on me that the FS100 in SD video camera. Shouldn't have taken me as long as it did seeing I just bought a Canon FS100. Anyway that brings a question to mind; does this forum cover Canon video cameras too? If not does anyone know of a forum like P.O.T.N for video cameras?

We don't specifically support video cameras any more than we support non-Canon still cameras. That is, we don't take the questions down, in case some member may know the answer. But to the extent that they are distinct from the still line there won't be a special area for them.

I don't know of any video forums like POTN (I don't know if there are any other forums like POTN), but I expect there are some out there.
