I just got my (replacement) 5D but am seeing some hot pixels, and need some help. I want to see if what I'm getting is typical or not, so I'd really appreciate any 5D owners who would kindly do a favor for me. Please take 2 shots with your 5D with lens cap on, manual exposure, at f/8 1/250, one at ISO 1600 and another at ISO 3200, large JPG straight out of the camera, and email them to me here:

(sorry about the formatting, trying to keep the address bots away.)

Thanks ahead of time for helping me out. I know it's not glorious or exciting, but I'd really appreciate the help.

I don't have a 5D, but I have had hot pixel problems in the past with Nikon D200 and XT. With the XT I just put it in sensor cleaning mode with body cap on for 30seconds and the hot pixel went away. IME with long shots (1/2 and slower) at 3200 chances are much higher that you'll notice hot pixels. What color is the pixel(s) btw? Are you just curious what normal ISO 3200 noise looks like? If so, you can probably google for for some samples.

Yeah, just put the camera in sensor cleaning mode and the hot pixels should go away. I noticed two or three when I first got my 5D, but it took about 15 seconds to get rid of them. ;)

Anybody? Please? Again, I know it's not as fun as posting your best work for all to see, but it only takes a few seconds to take the test shots and email them to me. I'd truly appreciate the help. I know you're out there, 5D owners--there's tons of you showing off your stuff in the 5D admirers thread!

Tried the sensor cleaning trick--didn't work, at least not all the way. Some spots have disappeared, but not most of them. Don't ask me why it even partially works. I'm not an electrical engineer.

Email sent. Don't go selling those to an art gallery now...took them with the magical 35L.
