New to the 40D. I was wondering if you can help me with the custom settings.... what should I have them set on?

Also, if you can give me any pointers as to what settings I should have my camera on that would be great.

I currently shoot in AV mode. I use AI servo and evaluative metering. If this is wrong, please point me in the correct direction.

I'm struggling with focus pretty bad. I just got my focus down on the XTi...and for some reason I just can't get it on the 40D yet.

What is the lighting like, because you may want ot turn on 3200 ISO (Custom Function I-3). Set it to on, and then you have ISO which goes to "H", equivalent to 3200 ISO.

6 FPS, for sure, and...

As for AF, I use that multi-controller thing (on the back), it goes directly to the AF point you want. Plus, if I'm sitting on a pitcher to pitch or a batter to swing, I continually refocus every second so I know I'll be ready.

There are some old thread on how to shoot baseball. I don't have the links handy.

In reagrds to setting, I like most here shoot with C. Fn 4-3. It might be different on 40d not sure. This way focus is with * button if you keep it pressed. You use AI servo mode all the time but by pressing and releasing the * button you have 1 shot mode while in AI servo.

Center AF point most but I do sometimes use upper points when in portrait mode.

For exposure I prefer manual mode. No fooling of the camera metering unless I mess up.
