Well, after christmas I will be able to use my 580ex flash as a wireless. How should I set it up? I dont want a pocket wizard (well, I do, but I cant afford it) so should I go with either:

A) St-e2 Transmitter

Or

B) 420ex as a slave?

Help would be welcomed :D!

Thanks,

Andrew C

For the price, you get something that has only one function, the wireless Master flash controller. It isn't very big, and that is convenient.

For the price, you get something that can be used as a wireless slave flash, or it can be mounted directly on the camera and used without any wireless anything. So, if you have something to be the wireless Master, such as a 550EX, you get more flexibility.

I went one step beyond this, though. I like to have my main flash a few feet to the left of the camera, and my other flash a few feet to the right of the camera, so I have a 550EX for one and 420EX for the other. Then I have the STE2 for the on-camera wireless Master.
