Slightly Confused

I'm kind of lost on a few things. When people say that they crop a photo 100%, what do they mean? I've had people try and explain it before, but to no avail.

Also, what do people mean when they say that they try and get the histogram to the right? What does this accomplish? Is it the standard sRGB histogram?

A 100% crop is a small (screen size or less) piece of a large image, saved without resizing. Normally it's used to show details of an image in forums like this.

Exposing to the right is a technique to maximize the amount of useable data in an image file and maximize the signa/noise ratio. More info here:

Exposing to the right is a technique designed for RAW processing. Getting the histogram to the right can be different, but is still a valid technique regarding exposing for the whites, & I use it all the time.

An easy way for me to get a 100% crop is use this technique, select any part of image and any number of pixels and don't change size when posting.
