The purple/black tulip makes the whole image too heavy on the right side, and that second shoot that's in focus is distracting on the left.

Technically sound.

Same image, cloned out purple/black tulip and new shoot.

no offense, but it's a bit boring. also, rooeey's interpretation makes it much worse. it looks like you just went crazy with a black paint brush on the background and then saved it a million times to get compression artifacts in there.

The original is far better than any of these edits, in my opinion. A quick levels adjustment to darken the background and make the white flower pop would be all it needs.

Thanks for the comments. The composition questions point out the problems with this image. This is my altered version with a darker background. Still with problems. Thanks again for the learning experience!

Wow you can really see where i burnt in there....
I wonder why that didn't show up on my screen and i used a save for web preview...Any tips....:oops:
