Just playing around with the always cheerful hula girl that keeps me company on the dash of my beater...

It's tough this close up - it shows the imperfections in the plaster and paint of the figurine itself... what do you think?

Actually, the noise is from a filter applied to the background... think I should smooth it out a bit?

There's a glowing halo around the figurine which would suggest an HDR image, is that correct? The halo really bugs me, it's the first thing my eye immediately snapped to when I saw the image.

I actually added the halo, thought it was a neat look...similar to an HDR.

Do you think there's too much PP here?

I think adding a halo to make it look like HDR is kind of like adding a lens flare to make it look like you shot into the sun without a lens hood, or adding spots to the image so your sensor looks like it has dust on it.

It's an artifact that the majority of people try to eliminate instead of accentuate.

All that being said, I looked at the image when you first posted it and it made me laugh. I can picture her bobbing on your dash next to the bobble head jesus :)

That's kind of the feel of the picture - I thought the noisy background and halo made it even more comical...

Here's the original so you guys can see it. I'll take a whack at a more subdued PP job as well.

Nice! I appreciate the edit...

One question - Do you like the whole picture, or the crop like above better though? The one thing that bothered me was the red on the right of the picture in the background... felt like it distracted from my hula girl...
