Fairly recently, there have been items marketed specifically for female photographers. I refer to the Jill-E and Shootsac lines of camera bags.

I like both companies and their products but I'm not sure I would want to be identified by my camera bag as "oh, there's a female photographer carrying her cute camera bag." I would want to be taken seriously as a photographer, and I would worry that carrying gender specific camera bags would dilute the serious, committed image I would want to project.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks!

Let your output do your talking.

Er, can you be more specific? I just looked on Amazon...I didnt' see anything that said "woman's bag" or anything. Is it just the color or something?

I recall a thread where someone mentioned that they use a diper bag so there would be lss chance of it being stolen. I say use what works best for you and let fashion be secondary.

It's a camera lens bag by Jessica Claire. I think it's pretty cute and have less of a chance of having your camera equipment stolen. It's a plus for us women photogs. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's ruining the image of being serious photogs.

As long as you have the right shoes with the bag you should be golden. :) Lady golfers have had accessories for some time now, no one thinks of them as not serious. If it fits your style by all means get one.

who cares what you carry it in? folks will take you serious if you produce a good product, your commitment has nothing to do with accessories.

Without seeing the photos I take, I'd think people would just think I have good fashion sense. I think that it's great that there are more feminine bags available. I would feel weird carrying something that is devoid of personality (as most of the basic camera bags are).

I LOVE my jill-e bags and my shootsac. :) Frankly, I don't care much if people look at me and think that I'm a female because, well, I am. (I hope that they notice before they see my bag, though! LOL!)
They're stylish, I'm happy, and my photos aren't any better or worse because of the bag that my gear is carried in.
