Today I had split topics on my CF card I was loading into LR. Scott Kelby's book indicated I could select a batch of photos by holding "shift" and then moving to the end of a contiguous string of images, then selecting the last image, and all images in between will also be selected. This works in all programs but LR. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need an upgrade?

If I shoot a couple hundred JPEG's of 3 different subjects on a 4gb card, it really takes a long time to select one at a time!

What do I do?

1. Within "Import Photos", select "Uncheck All"
2. Without touching the "Shift" key, click (select) the first file you want.
3. Without selecting any other files, scroll down to the end of a contiguous string of images
4. Now press the "Shift" key, and keep it pressed
5. While keeping the "Shift" key pressed, select the last file from that string of images.
6. You can now click on one image's "check box", and all the selected images will be selected for download
7. Click on "Import".

Hope this helps.

That's what I do but it does not work! This works in every other program I have except LR! I can't figure it out!

I am using LR 1.4.1 and this method works for me.

At what point does the procedure outlined above not work? For example, are you able to select a contiguous strip of pictures? Or are you not able to select pictures to download by selecting the pictures' check boxes?

The procedure does not work at all in LR but works in all other programs--Word, Thumbs, etc. Say I want to import a card with different topics--I need to select each image one at a time--I cannot do a contiguous select by clicking first image, holding shift, then clicking last image to select all in between--only in LR.

I can't get anywhere with Adobe support--unless I pay huge money.

Maybe if I upgrade to the latest version--is it safe to do so at this time?

Instead of upgrading to the Beta version, why not try and repair your current installation of LR?

1. Go to the CONTROL PANEL and select ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS.
2. Scorll down and select LIGHTROOM. Two options appear, CHANGE and REMOVE.
3. Select CHANGE and then follow the prompts for repairing the original installation.

That's about the only thing I can think of right now. Do you have another computer you can install LR on to see if your install file is somehow corrupted?
