Im in the market to get my own site and put my images out there. I belong to betterphoto.com and I love it there and was looking to get there Pro package web site. Im not going to list all the features. I believe it 349 a year.
However Ive found this other, more professional feeling site that seems like their technical support is through the roof http://www.sitewelder.com/index.html (external link)
There price is one time set up fee of 250 and then 450 annually or 135 quarterly. check it out. http://www.sitewelder.com/sitebuilderdetpric_price.html (external link)

Just curious who others are using for their site and if anyones heard of or used sitewelder?
The thing is im new to this so im not sure how much is too much and what amount of features are good for a certain amount of money etc???

any help is very welcome! thanks:D

I pay about $60 per year for my web hosting.

I get 120GB of storage space and 1,200GB of monthly transfer traffic.

But then I do all my own web and graphic design.

The only thing that I don't currently have setup is something like a shopping cart, but I can use EOS Template if I want to go that route in the future pretty easily.

But at $450 a year vs. even $100 for something with a few more features, that could be quite a bit of savings over time.

Separate your web design & development effort from your web hosting, when you price it out. As Andrew says, web hosting should cost you about $60/year. A good web site might cost you from $500 on up for design & development. What you don't want to get is a web site that "costs" (and is worth) $250, then hosting that costs $450/year. You've paid exactly the reverse of what it should be, and it will cost you a fortune over the years.

try to upload about 5GB of video file or mp3 to your account and post the url to the web for everyone to download. Let see how your host will honor the fact they let you use 120GB of space and 1200GB of tranfer traffic.

I have had a 700+ MB tutorial video online which has been downloaded a lot. I have used a lot of that transfer with no issues.

The 120GB of space - I really would have no use for that much for the most part.

i was just looking for feedback on sites people used or knew about..not really an alternative. I want hassle free and ease. Im not dedicating a portion of my life to dealing with code/broken links/preview then save preview then save, oh why isnt it working the way I want? fix change, preview then save...id rather just size and upload files

Have someone design a website for you.

The design shouldn't need to change - and most of the stuff on it will not need to be updated. The only thing that you would need to update is galleries.

There is a free administration program for SimpleViewer called SimpleViewer Admin. I use it and it's easy to upload stuff and change your preview galleries, etc. You do need to buy the full version of SimpleViewer I believe.

For galleries for clients - just make a web gallery with photoshop and upload that to a folder and point to the folder. Once you have a template made up it's easy to update the website.

If you're interested, I do offer my services in graphics and web design and you can let me know if you would like a site designed. If you know HTML, I can make it very simple to update the proofing area.

You would end up saving money by having someone design a site.

Web design is not hard these days. Pretty much any host has their own site builder, or is Frontpage compatible. I've been looking into switching my host recently, and I've noticed a lot of them are now offering unlimited space and unlimited transfer traffic.

FYI, my site is currently hosted through Yahoo! Small Business. I use their site builder to create my site. I change the layout all the time, but I keep the info pretty much the same. I am well versed in HTML, but I'm more of a visual person (hence the photography career), and I'm too cheap to invest in frontpage or something of that nature. My only complaint with the Yahoo! software, is that there is now way to incorporate flash and have it function properly. Maybe I'm too picky.

The only reason I'm considering changing hosts is because I am in the process of creating a new site for a new business I intend to create (I'm a bit of a wedding freak, so I'm thinking about starting a planning service) and I wanted to see if there were any better deals out there, as Yahoo is a little pricey, $11.96 a month after the first 3 months at $8.96 (give or take a few pennies). I've been with Yahoo for going on 3 years... but I'm always up for a change.
