The 70-200, I use my 200 prime for butterflies, the macro is too short for some of the shy ones.

In the line up you have the 24-70 looks like the best option. It has max mag of .29 at .38 meters. 70-200 would be the second option. Would be good if you could run down some extension tubes before you go, that would help a lot.

Take the 24-70 and do a few test shots with a dollar bill. It will give you a flavor of the kind of magnification and how close you have to be to achieve the max mag.

Thanks Gardengirl and Darrelll! I will take them both, I am planning on getting the 100 macro in a couple of weeks, but wanted to get some butterflies today.

If you shoot a lot of butterflies, give the Sigma 150 a good look. It is an excellent lens. I own one now and had a Sigma 180 in the past. Much better working distance. And the IQ is excellent.
