The 450D is a better camera, with the higher price tag to go with it. If you can afford the 450D and some decent glass, I'd get it. If getting the 450D over the 400D means getting lesser glass, then get the 400D. If you're going to get the kit lens on either camera, the 450D comes with a much better kit lens than the 400D (ie. the 400D probably still comes with the older EF-S 18-55, while the 450D comes with the newer, and MUCH better, EF-S 18-55 IS.) What kind of budget are you looking at?

I would go for 400D price tag.. but i like 450D features....:D OK.. tell me hoe the picture quality differs from both ??

in case if i afford to buy 450D but if you tell me its worse in picture quality...then 400D then i will move to 400D:)

Straight picture quality differences are going to be pretty minor, especially if you don't shoot RAW. I do really miss the 14-bit raw files that I got from the 40D, and I do firmly believe that they provide a noticeable improvement. You also get 2 more megapixels, although that only becomes important when doing heavy crops. Noise-handling seems pretty similar between the two. The 450D excels in allowing you to capture the image easier. You have Liveview, a larger viewfinder, spot metering, slightly faster shot-to-shot time, a MUCH better kit lens, etc. These things just make the camera easier to use, and better yet, more enjoyable to use. They might not mean much to you right now, but potentially will as you become more proficient with dSLR shooting. With all that said, I think you'd be very happy with either camera, as they're both a HUGE upgrade from a P&S. Just remember, a good lens on the front of the camera, and a good eye behind the camera are much more important than the camera itself.

OK...took a look at your site (nice shots!). From what I saw, I'd think the 5D should be your top choice. Obviously, that's a bit more expensive than what you're looking at, but it fits that photographic style perfectly. Add a 50mm prime to it and a 17-40 and you'd be all set. However, with the cameras you're looking at, either would suffice. As I said earlier, the 450D will potentially make it a little easier to get the shot you want in some situations, and will give you more options to "grow into", but they'll both get the job done. If you can afford it, put a 17-55 IS f/2.8 on the end of either of them and you'd be a happy camper. If not, at least get the newer 18-55 IS kit lens.

I would go with the 400D and spend the extra money in glass. If you had the budget I would get the 40D over the 450D. There are some nice rebates for the 40D and the 28 to 135 is a nice lens.

Good luck !!!
