hello, I'm looking to get an extra battery for my XTI. Are there any specific one I should get? I see prices range from $13-$75 bucks. Does the brand matter?

I'm starting to think about also getting a battery grip and wireless remote. (in due time).

I see there are different grips. Some take AA batteries, some have two batteries, some have three, charging seems to be different, etc. What do you recommend?

Same thing with the wireless remote, which to get? Do I need a special adapter?

Sorry for the noob questions.

Diamondback Battery & Electronics (external link)

I just got 2 for my XT and it came with a $5 coupon code for the next order.

The grip, at the least the one I got (Bg-E3) came with the 2 battery holders. One is for 6 "AA"'s and the other is for 2 camera battery NB-2LH.

Does anyone know a vendor/site that sells the battery holders by themselves?

You don’t want to use 6 AA batteries for everyday shooting, they don’t last long.
Use them only in emergency..

What's the model number I need? I went to sterling tech and tons of batteries came up.

NB-2LH equivalent. It's listed as NB-2L.
I saw 3 different mah rating. I see a 1200, 1500, &1700. They are all compatible with the XTI. Beyond that i can't help you. Sorry. Can someone explain the #'s?
(NOT to knock Sterlingtek) That's why I went w/Diamondback. There's only one choice.:p

I picked up the 1700mAh ones and was more than pleased.

I was so pleased with the Sterlingtek ones I just picked up 2 more for my 40d.

Some cameras, some lenses, plenty of gaffer's tape and beer.
