Nice photos.

put your Photo Name in the Subject Line

Sometimes this is ignored, sometimes it's used to disqualify otherwise good photos. Why not drop this requirement?

Congrats Drevilsmom - Victory well deserved. Hell of a shot :) They were all great entries though... glad this was an open entry rather than subject specific.

Now this is over, i'd like to add to the point made by prcrstn8. The rules state that pics must be no more than 200k, unfortunately this isn't as clear a rule as it appears; because on a hard drive, the file will appear larger than it is online. Can I ask for a consensus ruling on this for clarity.

Can we either go with:

A) right click on the picture online, then properties to get the files *Actual* size in k

or

B) right click and properties to get the size on your hard drive. Do bear in mind that on a hard drive, it's not the actual k of the file, it's the cluster space on the drive it takes up, which, is a bit like having 3 eggs in a 6box and calling it a full box - if you get my drift. The result varies from Pc, to Linux to Mac depending how your hard drive if formatted.

The reason I bring this to bear is that I like to produce images as close to an actual 200k as possible in order to present my pictures in the best possible quality they can be for entry when cropped and compressed.

@ Edd - thanks for allowing me to retain my entry in this weeks competition, and thanks for 2nd position :)

Thoughts everyone ?

If you folks want to discuss rule changes, start a thread with the existing rules on it and I'll sticky it.

Thanks all! I just thought I'd try a different apporach to an iris rather than the typical shots. I was surprised at how well it turned out, and I plan on entering it at a county show later this fall.
prcrstn8, my name comes from my cat, which is also my avatar pic as well. Dr. Evil was a buggar of a fella, and used to suck on his toes, hence the name. However, he was extraordinarily gentle with all people, and tolerated anything that was done with him, so he was certified to visit nursing homes and hospitals. He even dealt with a bunch of toddlers pulling his ears and tail at a daycare. I lost him in August 2006 to FIP, and even though I have a flesh and blood son, I still call myself drevilsmom.

Thank you for giving me the third position. I am relatively new to this forum. I had posted this photo in the travel section and asked for criticisms. In fact none of the people liked the photo. I had tons of criticisms for this one. I still liked it, but then I am an amateur. I just posted it to see what happens here. this is definitely encouraging. thanks
