Hi all,

I have read a lot here about light settings and all that, I have a alienbees 800 but is onlyone, I need to buy an external flash and I would like to know how good would the flash be (for example 580ex II) with a softbox as a second light?

also where can I get a softbox adapter for this?

thanks

Firing Speedlight's in to a small to medium softbox works very well but if you're going to want some distance between the softbox and your subject then there's a good chance you're run out of fire power. At close range you can easily use a Speedlight in a 24" x 32" or 36" x 48" and get some very nice results.

Ok, what would be the results using this as a second light because I have a alienbees 800, I just want to kill the posible shadow and since I need I need to buy a external flash i was thinking that instead of using reflectors I can use the flash.

please give me some light LOL

Thanks

A Speedlight used for fill is a better idea. Just be careful with your white balance if you're mixing strobes.

For fill you can fire in to a silver umbrella, through a diffusion panel, in a softbox or octabox. It all depends on the type of lighting and shot you're trying to create.

Is there any place that you know that I can get this (tripod, umbrella, softbox, diffusion) flash setting?

thanks

I'm not sure I know what you mean. Can you better explain?

I have seeing like a normal tripod stand and a normal softbox that you would use with the alienbee 400 or 800 but a canon 580ex II flash mounted instead.

Have you seen that before?

Thanks
