I think it's fair to say that Saturday was a perfect example of the Croft weather at its best...and Sunday was very definitely an example of the worst. I hardly bothered with the camera on Sunday due to the Monsoon-like rain.

Anyway, here's some of Saturday's efforts from free practice & qualifying.

1. Tom Onslow-Cole fresh from his double win at Thruxton.

3. Mike Jordan in his ever-lovely Integra.

4. Mat Jackson was undoubtedly the star performer on Sunday. He overtook 17 cars to finish in second place.

5. Stephen Jelly & Rob Collard doing a bit of BMW formation flying at the hairpin

6. Jason Plato was just beaten to 2nd place on the grid by a last-minute flying lap from Gordon Shedden. Unfortunately Jason's race day started with a trip to the Clervaux gravel during a very wet warm-up and got worse from there on..

7. Fabrizio Giovannardi took another win in race 3 to further extend his lead in the championship.

8. I was wandering around the pits when i spotted Tom Chilton taking some time out between sessions to sign a young fans hat.

Gear info for anyone interested - #3 was the Sigma 120-300 and 1.4x, #8 was the 24-105L on Manual with a bit of Flash. All the rest were with the Sigma 500 f4.5 EX. Body as always was the 1DMK2N.

Thanks for having a look. Chatter away at your leisure.

Great shots, the one with Plato, you can see him looking sharply to the right, great capture.

Great pictures there......and the weather was on your side

Your shot 7 is where i tried on sunday to shoot from later in the day but there were too many people climbing all over the fence.....gave it up as a bad job in the end.

Good selection of shots Geoff, I really must try that shot from the infield sometime and I would imagine the shot in number 5 would be good on race day with this lot.

Cheers
Ian

I didn't actually spot him looking in the mirror until i went through the images when i got home. One of those lucky shots :)

That angle is pretty much impossible on a busy day, for the reasons you mentioned. I first tried it at the 2007 F3 / British GT meeting (see this thread https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=375779 ) and it turned out quite nicely. As suggested by Simon a framed print of that shot now resides on the wall at home.

It would definitely be worth a go for you Ian. It's impossible on race day for me due to the crowds but there's a TV camera point marked on the Armco which should be just right from trackside. as for #5 i was shooting from there on race day last year...the shot ended up (doctored somewhat) in MSV's Brands F3/Gt programme advertising the BTCC meet last year. I wasn't that happy with the original shot to be honest.. https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=348176

Thanks for the comments everyone :)
