A great photographer will achieve better imagery with cheap equipment than an incompetent photographer will using the very best gear.

However, match two photographers of equal skills and the one with the better gear will come out the winner.

AND... as an instructor at Brooks Institute of photography told my friend manyyears ago when he wanted to substitute a twin lens Mamiyaflex for the required Hasselblad setup,

"Michaelangelo did not paint the Cistine Chapel ceiling with a paint by numbers set!"

I disagree, the person with the better equipment might have a sharper image but if you're talking about emotional impact then if it really is a good photographer with the lesser camera then he/she will find a way to use that camera to it's strengths and create a memorable image regardless.

A good photographer can't make sharp images from a soft lens but they can still use that lens to make a kick ass image.

What part "of equal skills" isn't clear?

So equal skills mean the photos would be just as good then, right. ;)

Two guitarists with the same skills…so the guitarist with the better equipment is automatically going to always produce better music? Of course not.

See where we are going here?

But the guitarist with the better Equipment will have a higher amount of quality in his playing.

Its a matter of what you need to achieve your shot.

But im a hobbyist at the moment, so i will not be needing anything high tech for now.

I am sorry, but you will need to explain this.

Let me put it this way, I don't care how skilled the guitarist for Ashley Simpson is; I don't care what guitar he or she uses; the music produced by this guitarist is invariably inferior to that produced by an amateur (let alone someone of equal skill) cranking out the first few chords of "Smoke on the Water" through the cheapest guitar and amp set up available.

Good light, a great subject, and a crappy camera makes me happier than a pig in sh*t.

Bad light, a crappy subject, and an awesome camera makes me frustrated.

Well...i didnt put alot of thought into it, and i didnt want to get into this flame war (a low flame for now) But certain people need Certain Things to achieve something. i would want a Faster camera to shoot fast subjects.

Dont worry, Dubai only blocks sites with nudity (and certain anti-arabian propaganda)

THANK YOU ^^

Ain't it though?!

Seriously I had insane trouble too. Found a couple videos that helped me figure it out, but once I saw how straightforward it really is, I decided to make what I thought was a better video.

Hah I can't help you there. There are a zillion ways to use flashes though. Strobist is a good start if it's a hot shoe flash. I think the url is strobist.blogspot.com.
