I just received the Visual Echoes Better Beamer for the 430EX. My question concerns installation. The instructions are pretty straightforward, but I noticed that when you put the side with "R" on the right side of the flash (and "L" on the left), the "R" (and "L") are upside down. This may be totally unimportant, but it does seem odd. The Visual Echoes web site listed in the materials seem to no longer exist, so I thought I would ask here. Did they just make these with the marks upside down, or should they go on the other sides? Thanks.

I've never noticed this. However, I don't know that it really matters as long as it fits. I'll have to check mine out later if nobody else responds to this post.

Thanks. I wouldn't think it would matter, but the instructions specify that you "face the LCD screen" and put them on specific sides, so perhaps it does make a difference.

I'm surprised there is even a Left and a Right parts to the BB. Don't they fit on the flash either way? Just curious because on mine, both parts look identical so there is no left or right side to it.

There is an "L" stamped on the inside of one arm, and an "R" on the other, and the instruction sheet makes a distinction. I have never read anything about this while researching the Beamer, however.

I never noticed L/R on mine.

It's there, at least on my FX5. The instructions read, in part:

"B. Facing the LCD screen, position the bracket marked 'L' (on the inside of the bracket) on the left side of your flash unit.

C. Position the 'R' unit on the right side of the flash unit, and wrap the Velcro..."

When you do this, the "L" and "R" end up upside-down, which, as I said before, seems odd.

Anyway, I guess my Beamer is special. I will probably experiment with it both ways and see if it does make a difference.
