Does anyone have any comments they'd like to share in regards to replacement camera straps?

I was looking at the Lowepro ones, and a few reviews have said that the quick-release system doesn't lock securely - that looks a bit scary. Does anyone have close-up photos of the Lowepro straps (any of the four models) with designs, locks etc. so I can see what they are like? :)

Other than Lowepro, what else is there that's good?

I like the Smugmug freeby. The Crumpler Industry Disgrace looks a bit excessive, but comfortable.

What material is underneath? That kinda looks uncomfortable, looks stiff and starchy... I like soft fabrics :D

The SM strap is like stretchy soft thick spandex with like a rubbery lining. Its soft, fake but soft.

I have a one inch wide Domke Gripper strap with swivel quick release on my XT. I quite like it. They are available in two widths, 1" and 1.5".

I ordered the SmugMug strap, waiting for it to arrive. I figure it's gotta be better than the Canon strap and it's free.

I felt the same about the POTN strap, way to bulky for my liking. Maybe if I was packing a 400mm f/2.8 around my neck.

I might mention that I usually don't carry my camera around my neck - I just have the strap wrapped around my hand. However there are instances where I have two camera bodies, then the other one goes around my neck whilst I sling the first one over my shoulder to shoot.

I dislike the Domke gripper straps with today's plastic bodies, as it would seem they mar the body more. I prefer the OpTech Super Classic strap, as a limited stretch, non-slip design that is more compact (not nearly as wide as the Pro strap that POTN sells).

i use both the classic and the POTN-type optech strap and around the neck they feel about the same to me. so i like both :D.

The Smugmug strap is extremely comfortable. I also like my Lowepro Transporter strap. My favorite is my Kata R-102 though.... But that's my backpack with a built-in strap.... ;)
