I'm awake. I have the alarm set for 4:00 anyway, and decided not to go back to bed just for 1/2 hour's sleep. We have to take BIL to the airport again.

Hope you have a grat day with Ami, Lisa.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

Go back to bed, Kathy, unless you'd like to drive my BIL to the airport. I'll let you.

The brick huh? May I ask why it's called the Brick? Is it heavy? Jim said it's a good portrait lens, the majority of my business is portrait work.

I have a Canon 17-55 2.8 and must agree that I do love it also, I just seem to keep coming back to the Tamron 28-75, it works so well for portraits or small groups.

Yeah - size and weight of its namesake; and if you want something better than the 28-75 Tammy, that's it.

Maybe I should rent one and see how it goes. One of the things that I like about the Tamron is that it's not heavy.

I looked at the specs on the Canon Brick and WOW quite a difference!

Good Morning Tom, Kathy, and Jon:

Greetings from Chicagoland :)

Today we are going to the Brookfield Zoo. In the morning I am going to shoot trains at road crossing a mile from my daughter's house. My son-in-law showed my a great spot on an elevated pathway where I can shoot down onto the trains.

For the record Elaine and I were both 20 when we said "I Do" :) That was 44 years ago :D

Kathy,

Renting is a great idea...it is an expensive beast...but well worth the money IMHO. Try it for a week and shoot portraits in the 50-70MM range...you will love the outcome I suspect.

It's fun to be able to shoot down on trains. I have nowhere to do that here.

44 years is signficant. Congratulations.

Sounds like a fun day ahead for you, zoo and trains. You shoud have lots to share with us later.:)

I'm going to babysit my granddaughter, she's almost a year old now and into everything, I should be well worn out by this afternoon. I love being with her, she such a joy! I'll be taking the camera and trying to get a few shots, problem is now when she sees the camera, she WANTS it!:D

Okay back to bed for me for a few hours, I'm going to need to be rested.

Enjoy your granddaughter...I have four grandkids with me this week...the oldest (Meghan, 19 years old) is at a kids summer camp as a counselor...so we missed her on this trip.

I don't know, Jim. It seems to me that if we were really convinced it might last, we'd have started a family by now.
