Me!! Me!!

Excellent! LOL

Here I go:

I send out postcards advertising my Senior Portraits.

The card CLEARLY states: The senior may bring along friends, family members, pets, autos, sports equipment..ETC. to have with them in some of their shots.

The senior will receive 60 printed proofs.

SOoooooooooo, my last shoot, a senior girl shows up with her dad, mom, sister, sisters boyfriend, and her dog. No problem, they can be included with her in some shots.

Heres what happened. I take shots of the girl, girl & dog, girl & sister, and girl & family. As we are progressing through the shoot, mom wants me to take a few shots of mom & the dog, mom & dad, mom alone, dad alone, sister & dog, sister & boyfriend, and sister alone. I told her then that this was not an agreed part of the senior session because that ONLY includes shots that the senior is in. She said she would be glad to pay for a family session too and buy the CD of images. No problem. She would bring me a check by Wednesday.

She called today and asked if she could pick up her prints. I said sure, come on over. She arrived & took her package of prints. Ten minutes later she calls me and wants to know what happened to all those "other" photos I took? Why are those prints not there? I reminded her what the agreement was, check on Wednesday for a family session and she would get a CD. She screams...."You were SERIOUS about that! OMG that is just BS! You took the photos why on earth would you not give them to me"? She then mumbled a few more cuss words at me and hung up on me.

So here I sit, thinking hummmmm, that was odd! Did I miss something?

Yes, you missed something...Rule #53 - you can't go the extra mile for some people coz they just don't get it. Actually, it's Rule #1 that you missed but I can't say that here LOL

How frustrating that must be! I hope she calms down and gets with the program!

And answer:
"OMG - bring me the check, pick up the cd!" :D

HA! Great answer!

I don't EVER print any shots that do not include the senior if it's a "Senior session". I am not a big meanie but jeez if I did that for one person, before long I would be doing it for everyone. Family shoots are a lot harder than seniors and if I was going to incorporate the two, I would adjust my prices to make up the extra work. She just wanted something for nothing and I guess just assumed I would give in to her.

And had a typical hissy fit when you simply ran your business.

I'm so OVER things like this...I just can't compete with FREE or almost free. My life and time are valuable.

Good job of sticking to your guns, Kathy. They thought they'd really gotten away with something.

Exactly! I am just amazed at how many people think they deserve a "Deal". This woman happens to own a drive up Coffee Hut. I wonder what would happen if I drove in with my whole family and dog, bought one coffee and assumed that I should get free ones for the rest of the group, just because they were there with me!

Oh Kathy I hear you...we do so much for so many "locals" and 9/10 times we get no consideration on the other end. Makes me shake sometimes...

Oh now I'm on the war path! LOL

The "locals"! Our local hospital needed a volunteer to come and photograph their annual charity auction. They called me and I agreed to do it for the publicity. I stayed for 4 hours and shot over 500 images, put them on a CD and signed off so they could use them, no big deal. They complained about so many things! They were snap shots for crying out loud! And free! They wanted me to photoshop a bunch of them, like head switches and eyeglass glare removal. I said sorry, I can't do that for free, it is TOO MUCH work. I got several calls from others that saw them and said what nice photos they were. I have not volunteered for anyone again!

Kathy - I hear ya. I did the school ball last year and volunteered my time. In exchange I was to get my name/website in all the publications etc re the ball. Nothing...in fact one article in the local paper thanked one of the MOMS for doing the photography (with her happy snappy) and not one mention of me or my services or donation. Not impressed.

Chris - how's everyone today ... and why no photos??
