Would you suggest the Canon one, or is there a diferent one that is just as good/better for less or an equal amount?

Thanks for your responses.

I'd also take a look at Opteka. I had one on my XT with no complaints. It seems to be the preferred third party grip around here.

For what it's worth, I have the 1800 mAh batteries & don't miss the grip.

I have the BG-E2 on my 20D and the Opteka equivalent on my 40D. In the 5 months I've had the Opteka, it's worked flawlessly.

I got it through Amazon, from 47th St. Photo with 2 batteries for less than $100 delivered.

Frank, were you at the Heritage Festival in Rochester a couple of weekends ago?

I own the Targus grip, which I got for $55 off of ebay. It's worked great and I'm really liking it.

:D No, I didn't think I saw you. I just wondered because of the large number of cars that were being displayed.

Tough shooting conditions with the cars parked in bright sun or dappled light underneath the trees and really crammed together. Those conditions along with my mediocre talents didn't help.

There was an issue with the Canon grip on the 20D long ago.

As for the Opteka grip, I had one for my XT and thought it was fine but the one for the 20D was not the same quality.

the 20d opteka grip has dual shutters and kinda looks strange to hold or even mount onto the camera.

i've also scoured amazon and found some pretty nasty comments about the targus 20d grip.

i guess the best is to shell out the bucks for the canon bg-e2

From 47th street photo with 2x 2000mAh batteries was under $100.
