G9 Lens opening by accident

I wonder if any damage will occur to my G9 if the lens opens out if the ON button gets accidentally pressed while it is in its pouch.

Any ideas anyone?

The G9's lense has an overload protection. You'll get an error message onscreen and the camera switches off, if the lense is blocked.

No I don't think it will harm it. My colleague done something similar and the lens simply hesitated and then retracted. I believe if you push on an extended lens then you get problems. Don't take this as gospel though..:)

it is protected.

I dive with the G9 in a Ikilite housing and if you zoom out on it, it will hit the port on the housing and shut off.

Thats good to know - I wondered about that issue myself.
When I had my G2 and forgot to remove the lens cap before turning it on, it would beep and display an error message.
Glad the G9 has this too.
