What the best settings to use? Aperture Value (Av) or Manual, or even Timing Value (Tv)?
It looks like the place is going to be inside a studio or if I can get another building than my own
And I am photographing people as for a portfolio

Strobes, constant, etc. If using strobes you can sync in aperture up to 1/200 sec depending on the setup and set for aperture according to depth of field needed and amount of light used. Manual is basically the same thing only you will have control over shutterspeed as well, in case a blur is wanted etc. but you wont be able to go over 1/200 sec even in manual before you start to see the bottom of the shutter showing in the images without more equipment. If using Tv strobes wont really do much cause the camera will meter your aperture for for ambient light and your images will blow out every time. This would work better for constant lighting. A light meter would also be a very handy device to have and just work in manual with the camera and play around till you get the mood and lighting that suites your taste. Hope this helps a little. If you could list the type of lighting equipment you will be using it might be a little more helpful.
