Lovely overcast conditions in the NW resulted in superb diffused light.

All shot with Mark II and Canon 300 f/4 (some with 1.4 TC).

Looks good Ronnie! You have to love the 300f/4 for a day game.

Nice, those are the days I like without that harsh shadow! #2 is doing it for me, always like those shots.

Where was Nick sitting on the gun?

The 300 f/4 is a great lens for day games. The thing I like best about it is its size - roughly the same size as the 70-200mm 2.8. No monopod is needed and it works well behind backstop nets, etc.

I like #2-type shots as well. Earlier in the game, I had a chance to get a much better play at second but fudged it up. I had prefocused on the bag and then when the play developed lost control of the camera.

There were a few players in street clothes behind home plate with guns, but I didn't look to see what Nick was throwing. If I had to guess, I'd say low 90s. What impressed me the most about Nick was he wasn't afraid to let 'em go high and tight, which made his big curveball more effective.

Been there many times, no clue how many times I've deleted a series because I fudged up the focus or was to late to the play.

Wasn't sure if the stadium displays each pitch, here in Roch/Buff/Erie/among others they have a seperate speed screen for the fans. Funny to listen to them, "he only throws 82mph" behind me. Yes, that was his breaking ball!!
