oooh, yay!! I have to say that this weekend, I really saw HOW MUCH the htp helps in high contrast situations (having stupidly forgot to turn it on, on one of my cameras). The comparison was unbelievable.

Interested in that but to busy to try. Could you post some examples?

Crissa, I had a dream that we traded cameras. My 30D for your 40D plus whatever the market value was. I ended up with your 40D for about 300 bux I think. I was SO excited.
I was disappointed when I woke up to reality.
Unless, ya know, you want another 30D? *puppy dog eyes*

40D is under $1000 at B&H with the $200 instant rebate... Just sayin'

sure, give me a few minutes...I'll post the same pose with the M3 (w/htp off) and the 40D with it on (different lenses though but same exact lighting) and I'll even post them unprocessed so you can see how much difference it makes...I'm so angry with myself for forgetting to check the rudimentary things.

Neil, the problem I'm having is that I can find none with the same settings...and the reason is that the same settings weren't working (I'm only assuming now, that it wa s because of the htp being not on...at the time I didn't know why I couldn't set them both up the same and have it work...stress confuses me.)

Cat did you ever have a wedding where always one attendant never had their eyes open in the shots? Or would never pose the way you tried to set them up...(I would walk over there and physically try to adjust this guy and he wouldn't budge...even when I said "turn this way" or...) gahh...it's bugging me in the shots.

Yeah, the one this weekend was like that. The best man... he wouldn't smile, wouldn't move. When I asked him to take his hands out of his pockets, he rolled his eyes and sighed at me.

Really? I'm going to have to do some tests, then, to determine if it's worth it to me. I turned it on after Puddles suggested it, but then I noticed that it locked out ISO 100 and 3200, so I turned it back off again. Same reason I turned off Auto ISO. That wants to default to 400, even in sunlight.

I probably shoot ISO 100 about 99.9% of the time. When I do switch to a different ISO, it's 3200 more often than anything else. Making those two unavailable just doesn't fit my shooting style very well.

I'm loading up a couple of shot right now...

I had to turn down the M3 to iso 50 to get the shots I was getting at iso 400 on the 40D with the htp on. I tried to pick a couple where the shutter speed was close but again, that was way different because of the settings.

edit: I take that back....the shutter speed was nowhere near the same...

And you were shooting RAW on the 40D too, right? So it does affect RAW also. Not just JPG?
