I just heard from Terri and am posting a pre-coffee, semi-coherent update. Adam made it through the 4 hr surgery and they are hopeful that he'll be able to regain full use of his legs again. Yesterday he could only wiggle his toes. They bolted him back together and (believe it or not) are starting PT today! Terri and Frank are driving up there today...so remember them for safe travels too. Anyway, I think that's all she said (I was up til 3:30 am last night and tried eversohard to be alert when she was talking to me:lol:).

Becky, how come you don't seem very excited about taking a holiday? I would be jumping and spinning and talking fast and loudly if it was me.

I sure hope you manage to have too much fun.

Yeah, I'm pitiful. To make it up I will try really hard on the "too much fun" part.

Wow...this is going to be an out of character...long multi-quote for me...

G'morning again, one half cup of coffee later.

Deb and Lonnie nice photos.

Howdy. I'm home. I'm not caught up yet, by any stretch of the imagination. But, I did scan through a few recent pages...

So, um... How is it supposed to be pronounced?

west coast: puh-kipsie

lol! you stole my thoughts again!

Woolburr wrote in post #5840483 (external link)
Welcome home...Poughkeepsie (at least in NY) is pronounced Poe-kip-see.

east coast ^^^ apparently this

Thanks again Pete. I'm mystified by the good, better, best. Do I really need $1,500 technology or will $999 suit all my needs and then some.

Of course, Curt will have some say in the decision too. I'm just really tired of having to take turns on the office set up to process pictures. We can cut a lot of time if we can work on our shots at the same time.

The laptop I'm on now, is 3rd hand and will be our marketing tool for showing slide shows of the CD's. We have a LCD screen we hook to it and Curt devised a plate that fits on our big tripod to mount the screen. We found it works much better to elevate the screen above the kidlets to keep them from being right on top of it where other can't see and gives the parents the chance to see by standing the behind the kiddies.

We do keep an eye on it and a hand ready to hold when little feet get too close the the legs.

My current laptop is 80 gig 1.67ghz power pc. It's very slow but it works. I don't do processing on it unless I have to. I'd go with Wool's suggestion for specs...sounds very nice place to be laptop wise. And I totally agree about the frustration of sharing time on the computer for processing. We've got two desktop computers for that very reason.

yeah, that!

Hey guys... Something Wool and I' have dreamt up together.

JPG July. It's where you shoot JPG for a month and not raw. Be brave and make the switch. See my sig line for details.

lol! NO WAY...even in my semi-coffee haze I realize that I will never do this

thomascanty wrote in post #5841605 (external link)
That's how I would have pronounced it. But, Permie said it wasn't spelled anything like it was pronounced. So... How does Permie think it's pronounced? ???

It's pronounced puh-kipsie (over here) but it LOOKS like it's pronounced poo-keepsie...and that's what cracked me up!

cfpackerfan wrote in post #5841699 (external link)
Sure. Actually, it's because I have an almost unnatural pull to the color green. You should see my house.

I'm the same way with red...dark red...it's all over myself. And sage green.

Right - off home now. Hopefully the hire car won't go bang before they come to pick it up tomorrow... :(
