We got confirmation this morning that the Civil War veteran I did research on yesterday has been approved to receive a "free" headstone from the gummint. That's makes two I helped get marked in the past week now. Woohoo! *high five's self*

No luck with number three, though. I spent a couple hours working on this one this morning and can't find any evidence he actually served in the Mexican War. Or in the military at all, in fact. I can find plenty of records about him as a civilian, but when I go into the military records, there ain't nothin'. And, I do mean nothing. I'd never seen Ancestry.com give me a "zero results" message until this morning. Sigh...

I just had a really embarrassing thought occur to me. Is my avatar from the Gear Wars series or from Lord of the Red Ring? Honestly, I have no idea... I've forgotten...

I really need to see these movies! Then immediately afterward, spend some quality time on the TR site.
