I've got no problem with trying to find the indentity of an obscure car - but if your playing this solely on what the driver told the photographer who then told you, none of this can be based on fact...only word of mouth?

It's certainly an intruiging car - very stylish....but the only true fact about it is that the wheels are Hartge Classics and the car is registered in Switzerland. Everything else is based on what you've been told.

To say this isn't based on a BMW is wrong - you can't even say what country it was made in or even if the car is actually a one-off?? To quote from another website:

1) Is this car still available? Don't know.
2) Is the manufacturer (You think has made this car) still active? Don't know.
3) Is it a one-off? Most likely.

Unless there is some form of verification/proof on the manufacture of this car then anything else is sheer speculation/hearsay (even if it is from the guy who took the photo)

I'm sure you can see where I am coming from with this?

Only resolvement I can see without any more tension is to disclose the car and retake your turn with something with less contreversy.

I don't think there is any tension (I'm more intruigued than tense) but I think DHoffmann will have to agree that posting a car that he know nothing about other than what he's been told 2nd/3rd hand is a little tenuous even for a thread like this?

When he can't even be certain himself about anything more than what the 'name' of the car is then 'guessing the car' will always remain just that. ;)

In the meantime, have a link to another photo of 'GTC #50' for those that want to keep guessing.....:D

Alrighty, that's two against this one so up goes a new one. :)

I'll leave the other one up in case someone can actually get it.

Good luck!

Question #1

Did you take that photo yourself?

I've seen those dang headlights somewhere and I have a feeling that's the key to the puzzle...now I just gotta remember what type of car they were on!

Nope, I haven't seen any rule stating it should be though, is there one?

Yes.

This contest (and all photographic content on POTN) is covered by the -=IMAGE POSTING RULES=-

Near the bottom under IMPORTANT READING, you'll see an entry that states that everyone posting photos here has to own the copyright for those photos. Anything taken by someone else without permission is technically copyright infringment.

Most of the fun in this contest is about people posting their own photos to challenge us with. Dragging obscure photos from the web isn't in the spirit of POTN (this is a photography forum after all).

Right, apologies, I figured that might not apply to a thread of this nature as a previous posted posted a Vector shot without complaint.

Teething problems aside, here's the third attempt, my own photo, my copyright etc.

Good luck, 3rd time 'round. :D

Is the 2nd Image, not one you took also? Which image is to be guessed? The 2nd or 3rd? If the 2nd Image is not your own, then you need to remove it from the thread. I do not like playing this game, when other members' do not follow the rules.

The image above your post is #3 which is the one we now are guessing.

Image #2 seems to have been removed (it was originally post #1128 - a b&w photo of a 1940's / 1950's car)

Why thank you for your kind response ;)

While I was looking at other threads, I'm guessing that Pete, removed the 2nd image of the 1940's auto.

OK, too lazy to dig through my books. But I will say, British, early to mid '60s, from one of the small, obscure specialist manufacturers, likely MG, Healey or Ford based and probably built for Lemans.

Cheers,
Kurt O.

ANYWAYS.... on to the black and white car and leave all this behind, AFTER ALL, we are on page 76! anyways...

That looks like a Jaguar E-Type but the intake on the hood doesn't... maybe an Aston Martin?

I'm tempted to say it's American and not British. Don't ask me why.
