I'll guess another out of my bumb. Lotus R340?

Better yet, is it a lightweight/low power go-kart or is it a low weight, high power supercar?

Good guesses, but none of the above I'm afraid!

Next clue: It's a 'mid-weight' car that was produced for around 3 years with a total production run of less than 10,000 (pretty low volume compared to most cars)

Biggest clue yet: It was designed originally as a concept car but pressure from the public/press saw it go into a limited production run.

Is it an open cockpit car? And is it made by a major manufacturer?

It's on the tip of my tounge but I seriously can't place it. It's so familiar, at least in my head it is, but I'm gonna have to ask country or origin of manufacturer.

Now I wish I did own one of those! Sorry it's not the correct answer but a good guess all the same.

I'm not going to tell you the country of origin...that would be spoiling the fun but you are allowed to guess. :D

Have another clue: This car was banned from being imported to or sold in the US but is now allowed to be personally imported under the 'show & display' regulations.

I just wish I had enough time to drive mine!

Dude - that's a concept car

The car in the photos is one I own (aka: an actual road going car)...it was produced as a limited production car couple of years after the concept was shown.

Here's another pic to help you on your way:

Here's a little fact for you (I don't think it'll help you, but it's interesting all the same) - the very same mirrors used on the car were also an optional 'special request' upgrade for some of the McLaren F1's!! Only about 10% of F1's had them....but not many people know that! :)

I hate to say it after all that agony, but I don't have anything at the moment. Since you were going to say it as well Alex, go for it.
