thanks Allan..( still keep learning with these bigmos) : all hand held

No problem. I just realized my reply might have come off as rude, when i said "(the first three anyways)" i was referring to how only the first three had low S.S and not that only the first three were good ;)

Hey guys... my 2nd outing with my bigmos • handheld • cc are wellcome :- thanks

These are good shots, I would still keep the shutter speed up (try to at least) even with the IS, i noticed a few were 1/320 and the images seem like there was LITTLE lens shake. Bump that ISO up!

A few shots with the new smooth finish version of this lens just to test it, i returned my other lens due to the fact i was mis sold it as a U.K lens and it was in fact an import. My new replacement came with the new finish and after micro adjust it seems sharper than my old one.As i say just lens test images but im quite happy with it.

All shots at 500mm at either 6.3 or 8.0 with some cropping on some.

These are great shots. I think they have just swayed me into buying one of these lenses.

The spring birds are finally showing up and this flicker landed on my favorite tree. This shot was taken with my 50D through a sliding glass door at 370mm, which is about the sweet spot for my lens.

Excuse the purple fringing, horrible lighting.

Here are a few of my first shots! Very impressed by the OS, these were at 1/320 @ 500mm! Dreary weather, rain/snow, cold, obviously over cast.. brrrr

Congrats on the new lens Allan. You're gonna love it. I'm jealous of that new finish! I wish mine had that.

I have to say I'm not a fan of the new Sigma finish on their lenses :(

So you like the finish to chip and peel off with heavy use? :S

well once it peels off, it'll look like the new finish :)

my lens has no signs of peeling...the hood finally got a little smudge the other day, and i rubbed it until it peeled...i could care less what it looks like, gimme an ugly lens that takes good shots any day:)

Haha yea, a lot of people don't have problems, if my lens would have come with the old finish I wouldn't care either, as long is it was sharp  But i'm happy I don't have to worry about that now.

Looks like that new finish should match most cameras better. Mine hasn't chipped off but any little bump or rub leaves a mark, and I think you could sand your fingernails like emery board.
