Gotta say I'm impressed at handholding that low too, but perhaps you actually see the sun over there - I got all sorts of rubbish images with mine until I ramped the speed right up (unless I use the monopod), also which OS you using, I'm using setting 1, is that the best one? I never received instructions when I got mine and until I got the image about I thought I had a bad copy.

I am using a YN-560 for flash, the on camera one is way too low and not powerful enough. I have the flash zoomed to 105mm. I was actually raining and snowing today sun poked out early evening though.

For all shots that don't involve horizontal panning I use mode 1. Mode 2 is for panning shots.

This lens is producing very crisp shot's, great feather detail, how is the focusing for BIF shots?

A bit slow and it hunts a little...but still works well.

Not slow or hunting for me. As long as you have a good tracking technique the lens won't have any problems keeping up with fast-moving subjects. It's only when you miss your target that you have to worry about missed focus.

Find it good for bifs once you get focus
