^^^ Nice job on the puppy picture! Good DOF (depth of field)

Thanks, I appreciate that:)

I can't wait to have another go at the moon, I was a complete newbie on the last attempt, but now have the 7D, the 150-500, and a bit better understanding of exposures, so fingers crossed.......

This was taken through a double glazed window at about 200 yards. Just after the shot was taken, he jumped from the wall and caught a rabbit.

According to the information for the photo on the Flickr page, it was taken with Canon 450D, which is a 1.6x crop sensor. This lens would still work well if you are using a FF camera though. If the shot doesn't get you close enough, you would be able to crop in a bit.

Sorry for the misunderstanding Geoff... I was wondering if the image itself was lightly cropped in anyway;)

Thank you!

Ah, gotcha.....hehe. Well, can't help you there. Have to wait for a reply from the photo taker them self. ;)

You folks have got me really interested in this lens as I need the REACH and OS...seems it really sharpens up when stopped down.

But I need to shoot both dawn and dusk for these elusive, skittish deer...by 8am they're gone and they don't get back out till 5pm.

I'm hoping I can get decent images from high ISO's with a 50d or 60d.

But I'm thinking I may be asking way too much of this lens combo in this type of light... may have to change my plans and find a way to stalk them in better light or while bedded down or something...

What do you folks think...as I cannot afford a f/2.8 fast lens...yikes!

Sorry for the late reply. It was your PM that prompted me back to this thread, so will reply here for every one else's benefit. :)

No cropping was done and very little PP. Converted to Jpeg and a small amount of sharpening.

It was a tossup between this lens and the Canon 100-400L and after reading lots of reviews, both here and on the Internet, I felt that this lens offered better value for money and haven't regretted it for one minute.

I do find that, for me, the lens is more manageable using a monopod, or tripod. This shot was taken with a tripod and shutter release, which was easier because I was inside a building.

Hope this helps you with you decision. Get it and enjoy.

Hope you enjoy your new lens and look forward to seeing some pics.

I should really visit the thread more often, but for me, I don't use the Siggy everyday, hence my late reply to you query.
