You folks have got me really interested in this lens as I need the REACH and OS...seems it really sharpens up when stopped down.
But I need to shoot both dawn and dusk for these elusive, skittish deer...by 8am they're gone and they don't get back out till 5pm.
I'm hoping I can get decent images from high ISO's with a 50d or 60d.
But I'm thinking I may be asking way too much of this lens combo in this type of light... may have to change my plans and find a way to stalk them in better light or while bedded down or something...

What do you folks think...as I cannot afford a f/2.8 fast lens...yikes!
where are you at...where i'm located 5pm should give you plenty of light...if you're willing to bump the ISO to 1600 you should have no problems getting a fast enough shutter in most situations...how close are you able to get to them? even though it's a long lens...you still want to be relatively close...as close as you can get realistically
