Wow, Alex, those birds look great!!!

Got mine at last and have been doing some comparisons with the 100-400 here: http://www.pbase.com/evandavies/sigma_vs_canon (external link)

Got a chance to shoot a few minutes of this model which is DAMN HARD at 500mm...
First time shooting anything like this so most were bad but I did manage to get a few good ones. Check the link above for the full res and a few more...

took this the other day with mine at the lake

That's not how you ride a boat.... you silly goose.

The guy looks more saturated than the boat.... what post work did you do on this?

I guess I broke this rule, In2Photos:
"Do not post another photographer's photos without permission from that photographer."

Sorry.

Here is a LINK to the photo (which is on the previous page) I'm talking about... https://photography-on-the.net …290958&stc=1&d=1216832574

Maybe a slight desaturation would help.

Actually it depends what look you're going for.

Just got mine yesterday (thanks, TeamSpeed!) and "George" went out for his first foray in my yard today. Gads is this a heavy lens! Conditions were less than optimal - late afternoon, rain storm, but got my first looks. Both were taken from about 20ish' away at 500mm:

Mmm... more and more I'm considering this lens.

I tried photographing some birds today with my 200mm... yeah... not so great. Nice flower dude. The fly is cool, I didn't notice it till the 100% crop... nice.

Great shots Amber "dude"! I am glad "George" has a good home. I like the raindrops on the flowers, I find that there are many photo ops after a rainstorm...

Thanks! Not sure they reach great yet, but for first outing with George, and intentionally working in less-than-ideal shooting conditions for this lens, I'm pleased.

Hey, the "dude" did well. After all, we all know it's all about the equipment, not the photographer, and it's the camera which takes the pictures. That's what I get for giving my lens a male name. Yet another example of a man stealing the credit from a woman... :D

Or perhaps just an honest mistake of someone thinking you were a male?

But it would be no fun to presume that. Teasing is so much more appropriate when you can feign outrage or emotional distress.

Dude is a generic term for both male and female.

The term "dudette" is sexist IMHO. :p

Must be! And this is the more feminine version, too. It got changed waaay back around 1990 because my original screen name on the old CIS CB was misinterpreted by the Channel 33 gay men... :-x (LONG story)

Ninja, hope you know this is all in good fun. Appreciate the compliment and happy to get it. Regardless of what gender is ascribed! After all, it's a higher compliment that you thought they were taken by a man, right? :D
