This happens to be my daughters friend. I am merely a amateur photographer and have NO..and I mean zilch experience behind me. This is my daughters friend Nate, who is a nut bouncing off my front steps.

#3 is a prime example of what not to do. You always want the landing in your photo. Also try playing around with angles and weighting.

Ahhh... Reminds me of the good ole days.

BTW, good luck to your kid in Air Force bootcamp. That reminds me of old days too.

He actually landed on the board in all the shots. He twists the board while in flight so it does a roll (as you see), then the board finishes the roll, he lands on it correctly and he rolls down the driveway. I in no way will even think of planting my rear end on anything even resembling a skateboard. Here is his landing shots :)

He was amazed at what a camera could do...so I did this for him with my minimal experience in elements. To a kid that is 14, this is an awesome picture, to those of you with lots of experience you may laugh :)

Try opening up the lens for some more DOF and watch the backgrounds for your shots. Also try going wide angle - it works for skateboarding.

Could use some fill flash. Nice shots though.
