Ok, here's the deal. I work for a mobile intensive care unit. We were transporting a lady who just had a baby at a hospital that doesn't have a maternity ward. The baby was taken by another transport team. Anyway, I was talking with our driver while we were waiting for the ER staff to wrap up what they needed to do. I gave him my biz cards and told him to call me if he wanted some family pictures because he said he needed some new family portraits. Anyway, on the way to the other hospital, the grandmother of the baby told our driver that she needed to get some pics of the newborn baby. Our driver gave her my card and told her to call me. I didn't know he did until days later. Well, I guess there was some fallout from this. I would NEVER solicit business from a patient or patient's family. That's just unethical in my book. My bosses called me and asked what happened. I told them that I had absolutely nothing to do with it. They're looking into all of this. I'm pissed that he has given me a bad name. I was able to get the phone number from my managers and called the family and apologized to them. I told them that I do not condone what he did and that I had nothing to do with it. They believed me and apologized to me for the mix up. Moral of the story is.....watch your back.

It doesn't sound like the driver meant any harm in it though. While yes, it does seem out of line for him to do it just sounds like he was trying to toss you some business.

Absolutely not. He didn't mean any harm in it. It was an innocent mistake. Sorry, I didn't say that. He and I work well together. I don't blame him for this. It is just one of those things. It was innocent enough that got misconstrued by the family. It can happen to any of us.

It's like that old saying...the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Hopefully you can get this whole situation worked out.

I always thought of it as more of a highway than a road...;)

There has been a few situations that were similar and I was careful to keep my business cards away. I don't even usually carry my cards to to avoid this type of situation.

I want to take over the world and become the supreme commander and dictator of the universe. No good intentions there. Hello heaven! :p

Man, this is the kind of crap that makes me glad that I am self-employed: nobody wasting my time with BS.

Anyway, good luck opening your own ICU!

And you're saying the family complained about this? Aren't they busy enough taking care of the new baby to not have the time to make other people's lives difficult?

(And I am joking, not intending to sound like a jerk except for comedic effect, which may not be very good any way)

Some people are incurable busybodies. Some people also have the kind of time to burn to do nothing but complain.
