Cleaning Solution Questions

Okay, just recently, I accidentally touched my lens and put some finger print smudges on the lens itself. I thought the lens cap was on, and went to take it off, and BAM touched it. YEah I know no big deal, but now I do not know what to wipe it with. Before with my "cheaper" lenses i just would use my undershirt, not wanting to scratch my lens I was thinking of this.

if I do not use the solution the micro fiber cloth should be sufficient enough right? is this solution harmful to the lenses? thanks!

Use a LENS cleaner which is designed to clean lenses that have coatings on them.

Formula MC is what I use these days, but over the years I have used whatever is in the camera shops that cater to the "professional" crowd.

I also recommend that you DO NOT use a re-usable cloth on your fine optics. Instead, get and use disposable lens tissue. That has worked just fine for me for over 40 years, and all of my old lenses are in great shape today. A re-usable cloth can easily be contaminated with hard particles from a previous cleaning that could scratch a lens or gooey particles that could be smeared on the lens.

Completely agree with Skip. Formula MC and lens tissue. (I use the stuff that 2filter happens to sell.) However, I would also add that I carry a LensPen around as well too for quick in-the-field cleanings. You certainly have to be a little careful that no particulate matter is on the lens but it's usually pretty easy to tell.
