Would some of you mind posting up the insurance companies so I can contac t them? My quote was through Travelers as a business quote. I thouhgt it was very high at 1500

You know that would be a terrific stickie for everyone. I don't know how to do them.

This is the sort of thing that will vary by location as well. My renters insurance in NY is about 3x as much as for my wife in NC. That is how I protect the camera equipment as far as theft/fire.

Always happy to hear some critique

It would. But to be useful, the parameters of the policy really need to be listed as well, otherwise you really can't compare.

Ie, $400 for $25K equipment protection doesn't give you anything useful... But the following does;

$400 for $25K, theft only, from home not vehicle. No fire, no vandalisim. Theft from car only covered if vehicle has an alarm, 65% replacement cost.

$600 for $25K, theft, fire, vandalism, at home, work, or in car. No exclusions, full replacement cost.

To make it useful, we should list details, exclusions, and limitations.

For the stickie, I was thinking places/links to contact for info, like Associations that have affiliate insurance discounts, like PPA, Which insurance companies, like state farm etc.

Jenni,
I use Hoffberger.com in Baltimore. Reasonable and local.

I use Grinnell Mutual. Decent coverage, decent price.

I wanna say my deductible is $250, but I'll have to call my agent on that to be sure.

I already have homeowner insurance (triple A) when I purchased my 40d and other lenses, etc. I have personal property insurance. Are my camera equipments covered automatically?

When it comes to insurance, never assume. Asking anyone who doesn't have access to your policy is an exercise in futility. Ask your agent.

Probably not. Call your agent or the sales department.
