I know this is a somewhat silly question, but does anyone know where to look for a mini bean bag? I asked all my friends and they mostly just stared at me blankly. Maybe Hobby Lobby or something like that?

Get a zip-loc bag and but some beans or rice in it. Or better yet, keep a bag in your camera bag and fill it with dirt or sand on site. Takes up less space that way.

I went to the fabric store (which happens to have cheap frames) and bought some heavier fabric, basically a light weight demin material, and a zipper and stiched away. Made it about 1.5"x4"x6".

I also went to a hardware store a bought a rubber gasket, a flange nut, a small washer, a large washer some superglue, and a 1/4"x20 screw. Hopefully you know where I'm going here.

I filled this with rice, and it works well. I plan on making a simpler 'sand sock' (with rice) that roughly fits the curve of a 70-200 (should be comfortable enough for other longer lenses) that has a flange nut on the bottom for mounting on a tripod or monopod. Sometime's it's just easier to shoot by hand, but nice to be able to rest the camera and lens.

You might find something at a gun shop for cheaper than a camera shop.
