Since being a member on this site, I see a lot of you guys\girls have your own websites.

I would also like to have a website not done any graphic or web design what is the best way to get a website.

I dont want to spend loads on it, can you rent server space or something?

Any pointers would be appreciated. :)

Sign up for a Smugmug or Zenfolio account. It's pretty straightforward and most of the site is already built for you. There is a yearly fee but it's cheap.

I agree with the above. My site is just a SmugMug site with a little customization done, but even their default sites are nice. MUCH MUCH MUCH easier than building, hosting and maintaining your own.

Tim,

What do you shoot with, your pictures are awesome. I like the daily pictures.

Buying some web hosting from a company like Hostgator, Dreamhost or one of the myriad others can be a fairly cost effective way of getting a site up. Most of them come with consoles that allow you to install things like image galleries with just a couple of clicks so not a lot of technical knowledge is required. You get several gigabytes of data and bandwidth and you can buy a domain name to get a professional look (not sure if this is available with Smugmug?).

Just a thought. I would recommend this route to someone with at least some technical knowledge. I've done it myself with a website at http://martindoms.com/gallery/ (external link) but I haven't updated it in a long time. I prefer to just use Flickr these days, though that would change if I were to start doing things professionally.
