I am wanting to study a certain type or class of creative contrived compositions involving people.

This style of photography is a form of story telling and almost always involves people in a just ever so slightly hyper forms of reality. It is not documentary because the entire scene has been fabricated by the photographer.

Something along the lines of Ryan Schude with processing (photoshop) similar to agoodwinphoto.com.

Does anyone know the official name of this style and a list of photographers or sites showcasing this style?

If there is a better forum to post this question in let me know.

Perhaps I should post under a different category?

After much more research it looks like it is called Tableau Photography. Gregory Crewdson is I think the best for this sort of thing (although I don't like some of his messages in them!).

The images are elaborately staged using a cinematic approach to creating a narrative one frame movie.
