99% of the time when its people in this kind of environment I would pick B&W, but for some reason the color version of this shot really strikes me. You did such a great job on exposure, and the boys skin as well as his hair have such unique tones.

For me the 1% wins out on this one, I say color.

Thanks Right Cranium Imaging,,,looking at the colour version it is almost monochrome as it is..Most of the tones are brown into red with little blues and greens..

I'm slowly leaning towards the colour version..

Oh geez, dont go telling too many people that, next thing you know it will be a new Fad in Hollywood to go along with the ringworm diet.

That is sad though. Where was this taken? I would love to go to a third world country and do volunteer work as well as take my gear. I think you get the most genuine portraits of these children.

It was taken in the CBD of Vientiane Laos,,,right in the "city".. In Laos 40% of under 5 year olds are malnurished..

Go to a developing country and check it out..There are many NGOs that could use your help..The advantage is the photo-ops are endless..

What worries me a tad is I see so much of this human misery..I hope I don't harden up to it but realistically it still pulls the heart out of my chest..

Why go to a third world country to do volunteer work.

I adopted six special needs multiracial children right here in the good ole USA.

Isn't that hard to do the right thing.

You are right, there are a lot of people that need help right here at home, I guess I think more of these other countries because I feel like here in the US there are so many opportunities people have and they dont take them.

I understand children are a different story, but in some of these countries entire families not to mention cities are poor and live in terrible conditions and have no options, there is no "Hey get a job" there is no McDonald's just to get you started, there is dirt, disease, filthy water and minimal food.

chauncey,,you have a big heart..My wife and I are sponsoring two children via an orphanage run by Filipino nuns here in Vientiane..We send them to one of the best schools here, an opportunity they wouldn't normally get..our way of thinking is education is release from the poverty cycle..Luckily they are well fed and clothed by the nuns..

Sadly correct Right Cranium Imaging..I many rural communities there is virtually no infrastructure and the average yearly income is around 400USD..Also there is a massive UXO problem which hampers agriculture..

I had better get off my soap box,,I'm becoming angry..

Colour for me on this one as well. I find it really displays the youthfullness of the boy.
